Bio Jaewon Kang is currently a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Computer Science at Rutgers University, working with Prof. Badri Nath in the DATAMAN Lab and Prof. Yanyong Zhang in the WINLAB. Before entering into the Ph.D program at Rutgers in 2000, he joined LG Electronics, working in the CDMA Smartphone Laboratory for the development of embedded operating system, wireless TCP/IP suite, CDMA data services for CDMA smart phones. He also worked in the IBM PSP Division, Austin, TX, involved in the international joint project for developing IBM Embedded Microkernel (EMK) from 1994 to 1995. He is a recipient of Seoul National University Scholarship ('93), LG Electronics Industry Academic Liaison Scholarship ('90-'94), ILJU Foundation Scholarship ('99-'03), DIMACS Graduate Student Awards ('04), Rutgers Conference Travel Award ('04) and Rutgers University TAship ('00,'04-'05) & GAship ('00-'04,'05-'06). He also received the IBM award from the IBM PSP Division for the contributions to the enhancement of the IBM Microkernel in 1995. His current research interests include congestion control in wireless sensor network, energy-aware protocols for power-constrained wireless networks, VoIP over wireless packet networks, dynamic QoS controlling for multimedia traffic, and ubiquitous network access in mobile computing area.
