The Bennewitz Affair

On June 11th, 1994 controversial UFO researcher William "Bill"
Moore was the guest on my radio show, UFOs Tonite! While the show
is two hours long, Moore stated that he had other commitments
that would not allow him to stay the entire two hours. However he
did stay until just 15 minutes before the show ended.

The first hour was taken up by the interview where I took no
telephone calls. Moore has not been involved in much public UFO
research, as his time has been taken by earning a living. He now
has a motorcycle repair business with his son since the Larry
Flynt publication "Far Out," on which Moore was an editor,
folded.

Much of the program was taken up by discussion of the Paul
Bennewitz affair. For any of you who followed this famous
incident in UFO history, what Moore stated was amazing, and will
once again (I think) cause tremendous controversy.

(Bennewitz was a civilian scientist who stumbled upon some type
of U.S. Air Force secret, and when he failed to drop the matter,
according to Moore, the U.S. AFOSI launched a disinformation
campaign against Bennewitz which resulted in his being committed
to a mental health institution for a nervous breakdown.)

Moore stated that he is once again publishing his "FOCUS"
newsletter, and he is beginning a multi-part series on the
Bennewitz affair in which he claims Dr. J. A. Hynek was an active
participant in the disinformation scam mounted against Bennewitz!
Moore also claimed that there is another very famous UFOlogist
whom he will name (a scientist and best-selling UFO author) who
is also implicated in the disinformation operation. Moore stated
that when this information is released, it will (he said) turn
the UFO investigative field on its ear. When I asked him if he
had documentation to support his claims he stated he did, but did
not have it with him in studio. Stay tuned.
