At the very outset, let me proclaim that all
images featured through this site were scanned by Rahul, my hubby.
This involved the incredibly painful and painstaking tasks of taking each
picure, scanning it, cropping it, deciding on resolutions and saving it
into his memory quota on paul. Suffice to say that without him, these pages
would not have been possible. For this, he has my everlasting gratitude.
The Dandiya Party
Held three days before the wedding, our families
and friends got together for dancing and food. Here
are a couple of pictures.
The Samahurta
This was the next morning, where the bride's immediate
family and women relaties gather for a song session that covers a variety
from blessing the bride to giving her good advice about how to behave when
she goes to her husband's home, to generally making fun of everyone and
everything at hand. Its also where the wedding invitations to the eldest/closest
members of the family are written. The groom's family then makes its entrance
with the wedding trousseau for the bride and are hosted for lunch. All
married women wear the traditional tie-and-die drapes, it's beautiful.
